How to access and use the Virtual Computer Lab

You can access select campus computers in order to complete any necessary schoolwork. In order to use the resources, you will need to perform the following:

1)      Sign in to the RCSJ portal by going to RCSJ.EDU and using the “Portal Login” button

2)      From within the Portal, Under “My Applications”, click the new “Virtual Computer Lab” link.

3)      You will then be prompted to select how you would like to run the Horizon Application. Click the “Install the RCSJ Virtual Lab Desktop Client”.

RCSJ RECOMMENDS USING THE "INSTALL RCSJ VIRTUAL LAB DESKTOP CLIENT".

4)   Follow these steps to install and use the Desktop Client.

  You will be redirected to the VMware website where you will choose the application that matches your current device.

5)      Run the downloaded EXE to begin the installation.

6)      Accept the Privacy Agreement and License Terms.

7)      The installation will complete on its own, prompting you to click “finish” when it has completed.

8)      You will then be asked to restart the computer before being able to proceed. Restart your computer before continuing.

9)      After restarting your computer, run the application by clicking the VMware Horizon shortcut on your desktop.

10)   In the VMware Horizon Client click the Add Server button to enter the connection server URL followed by clicking connect:

a.       CONNECTION SERVER URL: https://vrpc.rcsj.edu

11)   Enter your RCSJ email address and password to sign in to the service.

a.       EXAMPLE: STUDENTNAME@STUDENTS.RCSJ.EDU

12)   After successfully logging into the service, you will be shown an icon representing your Program of study..CGA or RTF or CIS.

 

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IT COULD TAKE A FEW MINUTES FOR THE VIRTUAL DESKTOP TO LOAD

13*) If you are using a mobile device, you will need to change your connection setting to utilize VMBlast.

 a. MacOS or IOS DEVICE

      1. Select the "Settings" Tab and then "Preferred Protocol"

      

      2. Change Preferred Protocol to VMware Blast.

    

 b. Android/Chromebook

      1. Select the connection icon

      

      2. Enable VMware Blast.

      

14)   When you are done using the virtual computer log off by selecting options and then Disconnect and Log Off at the top of your virtual desktop.
