RCSJ Virtual Computer Lab - Saving Your Files

How to Save your Files when using the RCSJ Virtual Computer Lab

When signing into the RCSJ Virtual Computer Lab you will be automatically signed into your RCSJ OneDrive account. This also means that your documents, desktop, and photo directories will automatically be saved and backed up to your OneDrive.

Q: How do I save my files?

       1)    Go to File in your application:

          2)     Select Save As:

a.     Select Documents from the quick access bar

b.     Name the file and click save.

Q: How do I know this worked successfully?

            You can verify that your file was saved correctly by clicking the OneDrive icon on the Windows Taskbar.

            You will see your file saved and uploaded to “Documents”

                         

            NOTE: You may see that the file is currently being uploaded still. This is usually a quick process, but larger files can sometimes take a bit longer.

Q: How do I access my files the next time I use the RCSJ Virtual Computer Lab?

       1)     Go to file and Open

       2)     The file explorer should default to documents

a.     Select your file from the list of documents

Q: How do I see my files when in my OneDrive?

    You should see a documents, photos, and desktop directory in your OneDrive with the synced documents. Your saved files would be located in one of them.

Q: Can I get to my saved documents from my personal computer?

    Yes, you can access these files from your personal device using either of the two following methods:

               METHOD 1: Through the OneDrive web application from the RCSJ Gloucester Portal

                    a. Log in to the RCSJ Gloucester Portal.

                    b. Under "MyApplications" select OneDrive

                    c. You can then access your files through the web interface by navigating to the Documents, Pictures, or Desktop directories.

               METHOD 2: Add your RCSJ OneDrive account to your computer if you have the OneDrive application installed.

                           a. Open Settings in your OneDrive application

                     b. Under the accounts tab, select add an account

                      c. Enter your RCSJ email address

                                STUDENT: STUDENT@STUDENTS.RCSJ.EDU

                                STAFF: STAFF@RCSJ.EDU

                      d. Complete the sign in process.

                      e. You should then be able to access your files the same way as if you were using one of the Virtual Computers.
