How do I import content into eLearning from an Export file?

If you have an export file you need to bring into eLearning, follow the steps below.

(Click here to learn more about the different backup file types available in eLearning.)

  1. Log into eLearning.

  2. Click into the course where you want the content.

  3. Go to: Control Panel >> Packages and Utilities >> Import Package/View Logs

  4. Click the Import Package button.

  5. Under the area entitled “Select a Package” click the Browse my Computer button and find the Export (.zip) file you want to import.

  6. Under the area entitled “Select Course Materials” click the Select All button.

**Note: If you are bringing an entire course in from an export file, you might want to consider whether or not to bring in old DiscussionIf you scroll down a little and look at the Discussion Board item on the page, you will see that you have two options. If you leave it set to default, it will copy all DB posts from your old course to your new one. If you'd rather include only the forums without any posts from students, choose the second option.

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
    1. You will see an orange/goldenrod status bar across the top of that page that will say the process is Waiting, Running, or Complete. Once it says Complete, leave the course and click back in. You should see your course content.
      1. If the process is Complete and you do not see your course content when you log back in, you may need to refresh your course menu. Do this by clicking the refresh icon at the top of your course menu.
