What is Multifactor authentication (MFA) ?
Multifactor authentication adds a layer of protection to the sign-in process. When accessing accounts or apps, users
provide additional identity verification, such as approving login via authentication app or entering a code received by
phone.
How does MFA work?
Once MFA is activated for your RCSJ account, there will be a 14 day grace period to register an authenticator app, mobile or office phone number.
If you have not registered a device, you will be unable to access anything related to your Microsoft account: email, onedrive, teams etc
After you register, you will be prompted to verify a device the first time that you are using your RCSJ microsoft account (i.e - RCSJ computer, phone, etc.)
You will receive a notification like this before being prompted to verify on the device that you register.
What are my options for setting up MFA?
Authenticator app
On your iPhone or Android device, you would download the Microsoft authenticator. you would receive notifications here which you would have to approve.
Text message
On your iPhone or Adroid device, you would recieve a 6 digit code that you would need to type in to approve your login.
Phone
On your iPhone, Android, or Office phone, you would receive a phone call to approve your login.
*You are only able to use the office phone option if the office line is dedicated to you and you have access to Jabber.
